What can you do in 15 seconds? 15 steps? 15 years? Is it enough to change the world? Is it enough to change your life? James Fritz’s Parliament Square asks those driving questions by putting the audience right on the edge of their seat. The lighting design for UC Irvine’s production lived and breathed to do the same, to help light a fire within the audience to provoke them to make a change and stand up for what's right. The lighting supported the raw and passionate emotions that the actors brought to each character and to not shy away from the hard emotions that were being brought to life. Each part had a distinct lighting environment ranging from a cool foggy and rainy London, a sterile and harsh hospital room, to the final part where 15 years passed in 20 minutes. Each tableau was lit with a sharp special to create a focus and an in your face reality.
